Characteristics of the Land Use in Polish Cities
The geodetic area of Poland is 31,267,938 ha (100.00%) in which built-up and urbanized areas represent the total of 1,529,364 ha (4.89% country area) – urban areas 568,409 ha (1.82%), rural areas 960,955 ha (3.07%). Taking the area of the formal surface of Poland as 100%, built-up and urbanized land amounts to 1,532 thousand ha (4.90% of the country area) recorded as of 01.01.2009. In the category of built-up and urbanized areas in the time span of 5 years covering the period 2005 – 2009, the following have been noticed: a total growth of 77,630 ha, an average yearly increase of 15,530 ha, an average monthly increase of 1,293.87 ha and an average daily increase of 42.49 ha. The Institute of Urban Development has a special web site dedicated to the real estate market and land management in urban areas: http://www.mprn.pl/nieruchomosci – Database Properties and http://www.mprn.pl – Land Database. In 2010, the Urban Development Institute prepared a report on the characteristics of land use in cities with a particular emphasis on urban land. The report was used by the OECD specialists.

Charakterystyka użytkowania gruntów w polskich miastach
Powierzchnia geodezyjna Polski wynosi 31 267 938 hektarów, z czego obszary zabudowane i zurbanizowane to 1 529 364 hektary, co stanowi 4,89% powierzchni kraju – z tego tereny zurbanizowane to 568 409 hektarów (1,82%) a obszary wiejskie to 960 955 hektarów (3,07% powierzchni kraju). Przyjmując, całość oficjalne powierzchni Polski jako 100%, tereny zurbanizowane i zabudowane, wynoszące na dzień 01.01.2009 1 530 tys. hektarów, stanowią w ewidencji 4,90% powierzchni kraju. Liczba użytków gruntowych klasyfikowanyche jako zabudowane i zurbanizowane, w okresie 5 lat, tj. w latach 2005 – 2009, wzrosła o 7763 tys. hektarów, średniorocznie o 1553 tys. hektarów, czyli miesięczny przysrost wyniósł 1293,87 ha, dzienny 42,49 ha. Instytut Rozwoju Miast prowadzi specjalną stronę internetową, poświęconą zagadnieniom rynku nieruchomości i gospodarki gruntami na obszarach miejskich: http://www.mprn.pl/ nieruchomosci – Baza Danych o Nieruchomościach, oraz http://www.mprn.pl – baza danych o gruntach. W roku 2010 IRM przygotował raport zawierający charakterystykę użytkowania gruntów w miastach, który był także wykorzystany przez OECD.
