EDITORIAL
We would like to present the second issue of the World of Real Estate Journal in 2020, and we hope that our Readers find it as interesting as we do. The current issue contains five papers, and it is divided into two thematic blocks. The first block is dedicated to the real estate market and the construction market, whereas the second block focuses on the applicability of new technologies for monitoring and analyzing the real estate market.
The first thematic block features three articles. The paper by Krzysztof Kowalke and Joanna Nowak characterizes the student accommodation market and assesses its growth prospects. The paper reviews the Purpose-Built Student Accommodation market in Europe and Poland and presents a detailed analysis of the Tri-City market (Poland). The article by Katarzyna Reyman discusses the densification of space in downtown Katowice (Poland) and examines changes in urban land use with regard to land that remains vacant. Krzysztof Zima, Damian Wieczorek and Apolonia Przesmycka examine the impact of selected construction materials and maintenance strategies on the service life of buildings and analyze the influence of life cycle costs and the decision-making process on the durability of buildings on the example of a facility located in Cracow (Poland).
The second thematic block consists of two articles. The paper by Agnieszka Małkowska evaluates and compares the absorption of new technologies by real
estate companies in European Union countries and provides an empirical framework for analyzing various approaches to adapting modern technologies in European real estate businesses. The article by Jakub Grącki, Damian Wieczorek and Edyta Plebankiewicz present a multi-criteria analysis of BIM documentation which is
required at the stage of planning the implementation of designs for multiple buildings. To offer a comprehensive approach to the discussed problem, the first article focuses on the EU countries, whereas the second article presents the results of research conducted in Poland.
We hope that you enjoy reading the second issue of our journal.
